Best affirmed the financial strength ratings of China Re, China Re P&C, China Re Life, China Datong Insurance, China Re Life (Hong Kong), and Bridge Insurance Ireland at “A (Excellent)” with a “Stable” outlook; the long-term issuer credit ratings were affirmed at “a+” with a “Stable” outlook.

  A.M. Best stated that the Excellent ratings reflect China Re's "very strong" balance sheet strength, solid operating performance, and commensurate risk management capabilities. It also underscores the important strategic role China Re plays, as the sole state-owned reinsurance group, in supporting the development of China’s insurance industry. China Re has consistently maintained a leading position in the domestic property reinsurance and life insurance reinsurance markets, and is also one of the leading competitors in the domestic property direct insurance market. Through the successful integration of Chaucer, China Re's industry standing and international influence in the global reinsurance market have steadily improved. According to A.M. Best's latest ranking of the Top 50 Global Reinsurance Groups, China Re ranks fifth in reinsurance premium income among global reinsurers that have implemented IFRS 17.

  Since 2010, when A.M. Best began rating China Re, China Re, China Re Property & Casualty, and China Re Life have maintained an “A (Excellent)” rating for 16 consecutive years. China Continent Insurance has maintained this rating for 12 consecutive years since 2014. Chatham Re Ireland has been rated "A (Excellent)" for seven consecutive years since 2019. China Re Life (Hong Kong) received its initial "A- (Excellent)" rating in 2019, which was upgraded to "A (Excellent)" in June 2021.
