On June 19, Yuan Linjiang, chairman of the China Nuclear Insurance Community and chairman of China Re Group, attended the chairmen’s meeting of the International Nuclear Insurance Pool in Wales in the UK.
The chairmen’s meeting is held every three years. The meeting reviewed the achievements, opportunities and challenges of the International Nuclear Insurance Pool over the past three years. At the same time, full exchanges and in-depth discussions have been held on such topics as international nuclear power development, nuclear third-party responsibility, nuclear supervision and security in the 21st century, and new developments in global nuclear energy. Participants of the meeting included more than 50 chairmen and representatives of Nuclear Insurance Pools from over 20 countries and regions.
During the meeting, President Yuan Linjiang also held talks with Dr. Tim Stone, chairman of Nuclear Insurance Pool of the UK, which is the sponsor of the meeting, and Mark Popwell, the general manager and their party. They exchanged views on such topics as to guarantee the development of nuclear energy with the advantages of the international nuclear system, to serve nuclear mechanism safety management, to participate in the construction of the Belt and Road, to consummate the relevant laws related to nuclear liability and to construct nuclear insurance related systems. The two parties reached a consensus on further enhancing bilateral cooperation between the Nuclear Insurance Pools of China and the UK.
